Then repeat the test by moving the crankshaft counter clockwise and again note the amount of movement and measure it. Then add up the total movement. If it is more than 10 to 15 degrees then it would indicate that the chain is too loose. It is either loose due to stretching or possibly the tensioner is broken or a gear is worn.
To check whether the tensioner is a problem affecting your timing chain without taking everything apart, you can put your ears to a test. If it rattles when you accelerate, there may be too much force on the tensioner pulley or possibly it’s cracked. When accelerating from a low speed, check whether the speed changes smoothly and gradually or erratically indicating a tensioner problem. If there is a humming 
noise that is intermittent, the bearings of the tensioner may be worn out. Also when accelerating if there is too much pressure on the tensioner there may be extra clattering when changing gears.
